ModoPM is a native desktop application. It runs on Microsoft Windows, 64-bit. We develop and test on Windows 11.
ModoPM is a Windows desktop application. There is no macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, tablet, phone or web version.
It is developed and tested on Windows 11, which is the build we support. It may well run on other recent Windows builds, but we do not test on them and cannot guarantee or support them.
ModoPM activates online in seconds — paste your key and you are done. There is no account to create and no Machine ID for you to send us. Once activated the app is fully usable with no network connection; it simply re-checks your licence in the background when a connection is available.
Pay securely by card through Stripe. You will receive an order confirmation by email straight away.
Your licence key is emailed to your checkout address from support@modo-pm.com. One key covers every device in your plan. If it is not in your inbox, check your junk or spam folder — first-time senders are often filtered there.
Open Settings › Licence, paste the key and click Activate. It verifies online in a couple of seconds.
Your projects carry straight over. From then on the app is fully usable with no network connection — it only re-checks the licence when a connection is available.
Each activation registers a hashed Machine ID with our licence service so your device count stays accurate. You can see your Machine ID, and how many devices are in use, in Settings › Licence.
The Machine ID is a one-way hashed value derived from your device. It is not a serial number, it contains no personal information, and it cannot be reversed to identify your hardware. It is used purely to bind a key to a device. See the privacy notice below.
Deactivate the licence in Settings › Licence on the old PC and the device is freed instantly for the new one. Lost or broken machine? Email us from your order address and we will release the device for you.
You can buy an additional plan at any time, or move up a tier. Email us first and we will tell you the difference to pay so you are not charged twice for devices you already own.
Buy with confidence. If ModoPM is not right for you, email support@modo-pm.com within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. No forms, no interrogation. We revoke the licence key, your devices are released, and the money goes back to the card you paid with — usually within five working days.
Nothing here affects rights you have under law that cannot be excluded. If a key we issued genuinely does not activate on your device, that is our problem to fix, and we will fix it — email support@modo-pm.com.
ModoPM performs a silent update check when it starts. It is one small, encrypted request to our website. If nothing new has been released you will never know it happened — there is no pop-up, no progress bar and no interruption.
If you would rather the app never reached the internet for updates, switch it off in Settings › About › Automatically check for updates. With it off there is no startup request at all — the app only looks for an update when you press Check for updates yourself.
You can also just check this website whenever you like. The download page always shows the current version.
Download the new installer from the download page and run it. It installs over the top of your existing copy.
Good practice: export a .modopm backup of important projects
before any upgrade. It takes seconds.
Only twice: once to activate your licence, and briefly at launch so the app can confirm the licence is still valid and check for updates. Everything else — your data, PDF export, the document writer, every view — is fully usable with no network connection. Your licence is cached on your device, so you can work for weeks with no connection at all; your project data never leaves your machine.
You can publish any project as a read-only web page and send the link to someone who has not installed ModoPM. The snapshot is encrypted on your own machine before it is uploaded, and the key to decrypt it is placed in the fragment of the link — the part after the #, which browsers never transmit to a server. The host therefore stores ciphertext it cannot read. You can add a password as a second lock, set an expiry date, and revoke the link at any time, which stops it working for everyone immediately. Not to buy. When you activate, the app registers a hashed Machine ID with our licence service so we can count how many of your devices are in use and free one up when you move to a new PC. It contains no personal data and cannot be reversed.
Your key is emailed to your checkout address from support@modo-pm.com. If it is not in your inbox, check your junk or spam folder — mail from a first-time sender is frequently filtered there. We recommend adding that address to your safe senders or contacts so future update and renewal notices reach you as well. If you still cannot find it, email us with your Stripe receipt number and we will resend it.

Yes — ten built-in themes, including a dedicated High Contrast option, switchable instantly with Ctrl + T or from Settings › Appearance. See the themes section.
Short version: your project data never leaves your computer unless you deliberately publish a share link — and even then it is encrypted on your machine first. We do not want your data.
If you record other people's details in your projects — team members, client contacts — you are the data controller for that information. We are not a processor of it, because we never receive it. A permanent-erase function is built into the app so you can satisfy genuine deletion requests: it clears the rows, the search index and the audit history, then compacts the database.
Card details are handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. They are never entered on this website and we never see or store them.
When you activate a licence, the app contacts our licence server and sends: the licence key, a salted irreversible hash of a hardware identifier (the Machine ID), your Windows version and the app version. On the one activation you trigger yourself it also sends the device name shown in Windows, so your device slots have recognisable names. Silent launch checks never send the device name, and no request ever contains project data.
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for corrections, or ask us to delete it where we are not legally required to keep it. Email support@modo-pm.com and we will respond within one month.
Keeping your project data on your own machine removes most of the attack surface. We hardened what remained anyway.
.modopm archives are validated on the way in.
Unsafe or malformed file paths are refused, in both directions.The project database is a local file. For company devices we recommend enabling BitLocker full-disk encryption, which protects your project data at rest along with everything else on the machine.

Found a security issue? Please report it privately to support@modo-pm.com before disclosing it publicly. We will acknowledge your report and keep you updated.
We claim no ownership of anything you create in ModoPM. Your projects, documents and exports are yours, and remain on your device.
Prices are in GBP. Every licence is a one-off payment covering a 12-month term, priced per device. There is no subscription and no recurring billing — nothing will ever charge you automatically. We will email you before your term ends so you can choose whether to renew.
Every licence carries a 14-day money-back guarantee. Because activation is online we can release your devices and revoke the key cleanly when a refund is issued. See the refund policy.
The software is provided as-is. We work hard to make it reliable, but we cannot accept liability
for lost data or lost profits. Keep backups — .modopm export exists for exactly
that reason. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited in law.
